Playing With Snow Inside

At our last meeting before the holiday the girls had a great time playing with snow indoors.  First we created snow women.  We split the girls into two groups and asked them to pick a "stander."  Once the stander was chosen we gave them two rolls of toilet paper and a hat, mittens and buttons that we made out of felt.  They then had to create a snow women out of their materials.  They had so much fun and made some very creative snow women.

After we were done making the girls into snow women we turned the tables on our junior leader.  The girls had a blast making her into a snow woman.

Next we had a "snowball fight."  We split the girls into two more groups and gave them equal amounts of pom poms.  We put our two large plastic bowls in the middle of the two groups.  The girls were asked to get as many pom poms as possible in their bowls.  We talked about winning, losing, being honest and fair and what a good sport is.  At the end of the game the girls ended up with the same amount of pom poms in their bowls - so everyone won!

We ended the meeting with a great snack and Christmas music dance party.  Dance parties are our thing now.  We are all great dancers.

We are going to dive into our Earth and Sky book at the next meeting.  Can't wait!  Have a great vacation everyone and see you all soon.

Cookie Decorating Party

We had such a great time at our cookie decorating party.  Thank you Cookie Doodlez Confections (http://www.cookiedoodlez.com/cookiedoodlez.com/Home.html)! Tricia dropped off a big box of yummy cookies, frosting and sprinkles for our girls.

We talked about the meaning of Christmas and why it is far more fun to give then receive.  We also wrapped our "super secret Christmas projects" so they could go under our Christmas trees.

Now that Christmas is over - our super secret Christmas projects were homemade rice warmers.  The girls filled their rice warmers with rice, lavender and rose buds.  They then sewed the opening close themselves and wrapped them for Christmas.  Moms, Dads, Aunts and Grandmas (I think I got everyone) - just put your new rice warmer in the microwave for one minute and 30 seconds.  It will stay warm for a long time and when it starts to cool off just put it back in for another 30 - 45 seconds.  They are so nice to have on such cold nights!
