Shelburne Farms Trip

What an amazing last meeting and final trip to Shelburne Farms.  A HUGE thank you to Rachel for showing us how to be farmers.  We had such a blast feeding and watering all of the animals.  We even had a chance to chase some baby sheep into a new pasture.  What a way to end the year!  Don't worry ladies we start up again next fall.  Can't wait to get everyone together again and start in on our "Journey Smoosh!"
7:30 am getting an early start on the farm!

Getting the grain ready for the animals.

Talking about what bunnies eat and drink.
Feeding the animals is a huge job so everyone had to help.

Talking about our animal from Mexico - the 30 year old donkey.

Our Last Journey Meeting

We had our last journey meeting last Tuesday.  The girls have done such an amazing amount of work in such a short period of time.  We finished up our tulip award and we played "catch up" with some of our projects.  The girls took turns meeting with the leaders answering super secret questions for our end of the year project.  After our work was complete we had a birthday celebration and a dance party.  Tricia and I learned some new moves from some very talented dancers.

We are excited to see everyone this Saturday!  The girls stop me in the hall after school to give me the countdown.  We have a great ceremony planned, the girls will receive some fun patches and one of our ladies will bridge to Brownies!  See you all soon.  K

Animals Around Us

At the last meeting we took a walk around the school to see if we could find animals, animal signs, animal sounds or animal houses.  The girls heard birds, found holes in the school garden that a small animal lives in and found animal food.  It was a beautiful sunny day, but it was also cold and windy.  We went inside to start a surprise project and read about animals from Japan.  Another fantastic meeting!

Our Easter Celebration

We dove into our Robin Award last Tuesday and read a story about animals from Mexico.  We also learned some new words in Spanish such as "queso" the Spanish word for cheese.  In one of the pictures below the girls are yelling "queso!"

We also talked about Easter, had a friendship egg hunt and decorated Easter bonnets with bunny ears.
Each girl found three eggs and then helped their friends find the remaining eggs.  When the girls found every egg hidden in the room we made sure everyone had an equal amount of small candies and stickers.  This tied in to our "honest and fair" petal.

A huge welcome to our new Girl Scout!  We're very excited to have you in the troop!

This is our end of the meeting friendship handshake.  The girls love it and they take turns being the person that starts the handshake.
